2022-12-29 17:45:06 +0000 UTC View PostWhen choosing safety goggles for chemistry, it is important to pick goggles that are specifically designed for use with chemicals!! 🥽👩🏻🔬 These goggles should be made of a durable material, such as polycarbonate, that is resistant to chemical splash and can withstand high temperatures🔥 The goggles should fit securely and comfortably over your eyes, with a good seal around the edges to keep chemicals out! ❌🧪 In addition to wearing safety goggles, it is important to follow other safety protocols when working with chemicals, such as wearing appropriate protective clothing, using gloves, and following proper handling and storage procedures!🧤🥼🥽
2022-12-28 18:02:51 +0000 UTC View PostWhy are test tubes so important in the lab? 🧪 They’re used for a wide range of purposes!!: 🧪Mixing and heating liquids: Test tubes can be used to mix and heat small amounts of liquids, either by hand or using a test tube holder and Bunsen burner 🔥👩🏻🔬 🧪Storing and transporting samples: Test tubes can be used to store small amounts of liquid samples for testing, analysis, or experimentation. They can also be sealed or capped to prevent spills or contamination 🫗 🧪Conducting chemical reactions: Test tubes can be used to hold and mix chemicals for conducting experiments and observing chemical reactions 🔥💨 🧪Analyzing samples: Test tubes are often used to hold small amounts of liquid samples for testing and analysis. They can be used in conjunction with other laboratory equipment, such as spectrophotometers and pH meters, to measure the properties of the samples 🧫 🧪Viewing samples: Test tubes are made from transparent materials, such as glass or plastic, which makes it easy to observe and analyze the contents of the tube 🤓 Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do much! 👩🏻🔬🧫
2022-12-27 17:45:05 +0000 UTC View PostHappy happy Monday! 🥰 Off to the gym to get these brain juices flowing 🧠 I love to start the day with a workout before I get in the lab! 🧪👩🏻🔬 it allows me to have a clear headed mind that’s ready to learn 📝

2022-12-19 20:04:42 +0000 UTC View PostIve been organizing some new lab equipment and soaping supplies all morning ☀️ How do you like my new safety glasses? 😎
2022-12-18 18:19:10 +0000 UTC View PostSomething interesting I’ve learned in class that liquid air is slightly blue, just like water!😱 this is due to oxygen. Blue light bounces off of it and hits our eyes 👀 This explanation is the same for any color we see 🌈

2022-12-15 17:05:29 +0000 UTC View PostDid you know that in very cold temperatures air molecules vibrate slower compared to when it is hot outside?🥶 Water freezes and the air can’t hold as much water vapor😲💨

2022-12-12 19:07:12 +0000 UTC View PostTis’ the season to finally start using menthol again! Menthol is a chemical compound, it’s found naturally in peppermint. Like most chemical compounds it can also be made up in a lab!👩🏻🔬 Rather than using menthol in my skincare, I generally use it in my shower steamers to help open my sinuses during the cold winter months.🤧 How would you use menthol? 🤔
2022-12-11 18:32:30 +0000 UTC View PostFun fact Friday👩🏻🔬 DID you know…that water expands when it is frozen? It is the only non metallic substance that does this.🧊 So when frozen, water is less dense than when it is in liquid form, but it expands by about 9%. Cool right? 🥶
2022-12-09 18:01:04 +0000 UTC View PostI had so much fun playing with this soap making kit in my new lab😋🧪 Melt and pour soap is fun because it has already been through the saponification process, therefore it does not need to cure and is immediately ready to use!🛁

2022-12-08 17:18:59 +0000 UTC View PostChemistry is all around us ❄️ Even in how snowflakes form! They are created through a process called nucleation, where water molecules come together around a speck of dust or pollen in the air and create an ice crystal.🧊
